Graphic Designer
| This is an example of graphic design. |
The purpose of this job is to design or create graphic for a specific job such as packaging, displays, or logos. The tasks needed to do are; drawing, coloring, taking pictures, and (most importantly) using a computer and/or tablet/cellphone. The knowledge needed is; Commercial and Advertising Art, Computer Graphics, Design and Visual Communications, General, Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial and Product Design, Web Page, Digital/Multimedia and Information Resource Design. The work environment would be meeting with the client, working from a home/work computer, and etc. The work schedule all ties into the deadline, graphic designers need to work for hours all week long. They usually work overtime, which is good because they get more done. They will need to travel in order to meet with clients. Some helpful school subjects are; typography, book design, drawing, advanced graphic design, computer-assisted design, digital media, and photography. The salary is; median hourly-$25.08 per year; average-$55,030 per year. The employment outlook is; growth rate-2.6%; openings per year-354. The possibility for advancement/promotion is good. This job seems fun, but it comes with many responsibilities, I don't think this job is a good fit for me because 1) I can't draw that great, 2) I wouldn't want my work to be rejected after spending hours on it for the client (It is life), and 3) I dislike working for others in the sense of being ordered around for my work, but to their liking.
